Some information about the CNA certification exam
For a fresh nurse aide graduate, the CNA certification exam is last hurdle to jump over before becoming a certified nursing assistant. This exam is an important one as it can bring to your lap plenty of job opportunities and benefits. Most of all, you become a member in a dedicated team who will do everything for the safety and betterment of their patient.
Once a nurse aide student graduates from a state-approved nursing aide program, they are eligible to take the CNA certification test. The test examines the nurse aide’s skills and knowledge in their chosen profession. Once the candidate passes the test, the state certifies him or her as a certified nurse assistant. This says a lot especially to the patient because this would mean that the candidate is legally found to provide safe and correct care to the patient. Furthermore, many employers would require such an exam before they can hire you.
The test is divided into two parts namely the written exam followed by the demonstration test. In the written examination, the candidate is being tested for knowledge and theories about being a nurse aide. It covers hygiene, nutrition, infection control, ethics and professionalism and proper patient communication. After that, the nurse aide will then demonstrate of common nurse aide procedures like hand washing, patient interaction, housekeeping skills like bed making, feeding and bathing just to name a few.
But since it is voluntary, would bother taking it. Many benefits are attached to becoming a certified nurse aide. One of which is that patients can trust you when you are doing certain procedures to them since the state itself guaranteed your ready to do this. Furthermore, many employers would prefer a CAN than those who are not certified so you have more job opportunities especially that medical personnel are scarce these days. So plenty of career options are always available for you.
When the candidate passes the CNA certificaiton exam, they would have many opportunities in their career. One of those is that you are more eligible to have better benefits and an increase in salary. You are also better suited to undergo training to better your skills and expand your knowledge. Most importantly, you are a likely candidate to be promoted compared to your non-certified counterparts. Hence, the benefits of the exam are very worth it in the long run.
So if you are planning on taking the CNA certification test, make sure that you are prepared mentally and physically, relax yourself before the actual exam and don’t be intoxicated when taking the exam because it will be a sure fire way to get disqualified.
