Is it safe to buy software downloads online?

Is it safe to buy software downloads online? Yep. Just do your research prior to purchasing any download that does not come directly from the manufacturer’s site. Websites can pop up overnight offering the lowest prices on popular software downloads. Make sure you can trust them before you buy. These sites often send promotional or academic codes as full versions. Then there are some that just send counterfeit or cracked codes.

Downloads are generally less expensive. This aids in making the search for a legitimate seller difficult. Most downloads cost less because they are for installation on 1 machine where retail products usually allow installation on 2 or 3 computers. Ask some questions to understand what product you’re getting and where the code is coming from.

Do some research on the item. If it’s too cheap you can ask the vendor where they get the codes. Some will use codes from CDs or boxes they open. They also may use product key cards sold from the manufacturer. Both are legal. Others will send academic or promotional codes for full version purchases. Get caught using one of these at your business and you’re going to get a big fine. Stay away from eBay too as they don’t allow downloads. Sellers moving key cards or product keys on there rarely send you a legitimate item.

Downloads can be less expensive and less taxing on the earth and our resources. Take the time to research a product and seller and you should have no problems. As always, use common sense when shopping online to prevent a poor situation.

Promotional codes are generally released to a specific user or group of users. These groups may include not-for-profit organizations, churches and religious groups or company employees. Academic or educational codes are strictly limited and for use by students, teachers and some other educational staff. Using either one of these codes in a commercial environment can’t warrant a major fine. Often you can check and see if your product is academic or promotional by checking the about file within the software program.

The types of products you can download vary greatly. Come on over to DirectDeals and ask any questions you have about downloading software. Thanks.
