Chocolate appears to be such a desirable commodity, in that, once people are questioned about its quality, they would argue that it is not only their food of choice, but perhaps their ‘drug’ of choice. The fair trade system was implemented to ensure that foreign workers would receive a legitimate wage, compared to their counterparts who instead were getting a subsidised amount for there efforts. The fair trade idea appears to be a friendly solution to the pricing struggles between exporters and workers, but what really is the difference between a normal piece of chocolate and a ‘fair trade’ variety?
