In the U.S, female employees merit equivalent privileges, pay, protection, and benefits as their male opposite numbers. But even in 2012, this is not always the case. Plain cases of discrimination occur when a woman isn’t paid the same as a man for a similar job. But there also are less obvious types of gender discrimination which are also illegal. It takes place when certain jobs aren't even available to girls, and these customarily entail the highest level positions in an enterprise. In company America this has been come to be known as “the glass ceiling“.
