How Give Your Scrapbook That Summer Feel – Part 2
Previously we looked at the effect of colours and objects in setting the tone for your album. Now we will look at what additional bits you might want to add to your scrapbook to enhance that ‘summer feel’.
Nature
There are two things that become very frequent in summer. Flowers and insects.
Summer just would not be the same if we did not see these two things everywhere. For inspiration just cast your eyes to the garden. You’ll find a bounty of bees, butterflies and grasshoppers, all leading their busy tiny lives.
Of course these lives would be way harder if there were not any flowers around. Roses, Begonias and Lilies – all of these and a lot more come to bloom in the hotter months and can be found in any botanical garden.
The great part about these insects and flowers is there are such a lot of disparate approaches you can take with them.
Wish to have a light hearted and fun feel to your pages? Go with some cartoony and lovable versions of the insects and flowers. It will add a lot of character to your pages.
If you are searching for a more serious tone or want to add some refinement to your pages, you can add images or life like sketches of the flowers and insects.
Or better collect some flowers from your garden in the summertime months and press and dry them. Then you could use some real bits of summer in your next album. This is also a great way to get some cheap scrapbooking supplies.
Pearl Pens
These pens are a great addition to any scrappers toolkit. They are the size of the fat permanent markers and hold about 25 milliliters, which should last a long while – even with frequent use.
The explanation why they are called pearl pens is they are filled with a pearlescent liquid which when squeezed out on the page look similar to the pearls in oysters.
They come in a complete range of colours, so I’d suggest to get some in the warm summer tones.
These are perfect for adding some life into any blank or solid color areas. They can be made to appear like tiny insects flying about or mimic the spores from a dandelion in the wind.
So brighten up any bare areas with some quick dots from a pearl pen. You will also find you use these in a lot of other scrapbooking projects.
